We help children and adults build the communication skills they need to connect with the people around them — at home, at school, and out in the world.
When Julia Chernova, M.A., CCC-SLP, QOM, started Speech Therapy Plus LLC in 2015, she had a straightforward goal: give every client the kind of careful, individualized attention that actually makes a difference. Not cookie-cutter therapy. Not rushed sessions. The real thing.
What started as one clinician working closely with families in the Fair Lawn, NJ area has grown into a multidisciplinary practice with more than 40 licensed clinicians. That growth happened because families kept coming back and telling other families.
Today, we offer speech-language therapy, occupational therapy, physical therapy, and several specialized programs — all under one roof, in up to eight languages.
We help children and adults build the communication skills they need to connect with the people around them — at home, at school, and out in the world.
There is no one-size-fits-all in therapy. We start with what the research tells us works, then shape every plan around the person sitting in front of us.
Our clinicians rely on techniques with solid research behind them — PROMPT, SOS Approach to Feeding, AAC, Orton-Gillingham, and fascia release therapy, among others.
Every therapy plan starts with a thorough evaluation. From there, we set specific goals and adjust as your child grows — because what works in month one may not be the focus by month three.
Therapy does not stop when the session ends. We show parents and caregivers what to practice at home, answer your questions honestly, and keep you involved in every decision.
Our clinicians speak eight or more languages. That matters because therapy works best when everyone — child, parent, and therapist — can communicate freely.
When a child sees both an SLP and an OT here, those therapists actually coordinate. They share notes, align goals, and make sure nothing falls through the cracks.
We work with everyone from babies who need early intervention to adults recovering from strokes or managing voice disorders. If you need adult speech therapy, we do that too.
We have over 40 licensed clinicians on staff — speech-language pathologists, occupational therapists, and physical therapists. They are well-trained, they genuinely care, and they are the reason families stay with us.
M.A., CCC-SLP, QOM
Founder & Clinical Director
Julia started Speech Therapy Plus in 2015 because she saw too many families getting generic therapy that did not really fit their child. She wanted to build something better — a practice rooted in the Fair Lawn, NJ community where clinicians have the time and training to do thorough, thoughtful work. A bilingual English-Russian clinician herself, Julia specializes in speech sound disorders, language delays, feeding and swallowing difficulties, autism spectrum disorder, childhood apraxia of speech, and voice disorders.
She is a Qualified Orofacial Myologist (IAOM) with advanced training in the SOS Approach to Feeding, PROMPT (Level 1), augmentative and alternative communication (AAC), and fascia release techniques. She still sees clients regularly and stays closely involved in the clinical direction of the practice.
CCC-SLP certified clinicians who work with speech, language, voice, and swallowing concerns
Licensed OTs helping with fine motor skills, sensory processing, and everyday independence
Pediatric PTs who support gross motor development, strength, and mobility from infancy on
Additional credentials in QOM, PROMPT, SOS Feeding, Orton-Gillingham, and more
A child should not have to struggle with a language gap on top of whatever brought them to therapy. Our clinicians deliver sessions in eight or more languages, so your family can participate fully.
Parents are understandably careful about who they trust with their child. Here is what families in the Fair Lawn area and beyond tell us makes the difference.
A large clinical team means shorter wait times and a better chance of matching your child with a therapist who is the right fit — not just whoever is available.
When parents can speak directly to the therapist in their own language, they understand the plan, they ask better questions, and their child benefits.
Whether your child needs early intervention or a family member needs adult rehabilitation, you do not have to start over at a new practice.
Having multiple specialties in one place means fewer drives across town, less paperwork, and therapists who actually talk to each other about your child.
We use methods that have been studied and shown to work. You deserve to know that the time and effort your family puts into therapy is built on solid ground.
We have been part of the Fair Lawn, NJ community for over ten years. That kind of track record is not something you can shortcut — it is earned one family at a time.
When someone gains the ability to say what they mean, it changes their whole life. That is the work we show up for every day.
